Volvo Trucks has developed a new service that checks truck location in real-time. This would be especially useful for customers with time-critical transports or high-value goods.

More efficient logistics
The service, called Positioning+, constantly tracks the truck's geographical location. This enables more efficient logistics. "This service comes in handy in the concrete industry, for example. Timing is everything, down to the minute the truck actually has to deliver the load of concrete. When mixing concrete, each mixture is adjusted to the time needed for loading, delivery and pouring. With Positioning+, it can be determined exactly when the truck arrives and so the mixture can be prepared accordingly," says Johan Östberg, Product Specialist at Volvo Trucks.

Scheduling work
Positioning+ additionally signals when a truck passes through a certain defined area. Staff in the warehouse, for example, then know when a truck is arriving and leaving so that follow-up work can be scheduled.
