Heylen Warehouses is installing 'the most powerful solar roof in the world' on a distribution centre in Venlo. The Belgian real estate company is building a 12.6-hectare solar roof with AG Real Estate, enough to provide green power to 4,500 families.
"We believe logistics buildings are the power plants of the future," Philippe Deschilder, CEO of Heylen Warehouses, said of the project. Installation of the project started in early 2020 and completion is scheduled for June 2020.
The building is on logistics site VE Commerce Campus in Venlo. The entire roof will be covered with solar panels. The amount of green power this will generate is more than enough for local activities on the site itself. The extra power will be used at other locations, such as shops, the head office and other distribution centres of Heylen Warehouses' clients.
