Oracle introduces new logistics functions in Oracle Fusion Cloud Supply Chain & Manufacturing (SCM). With the new features in Oracle Transportation Management and Oracle Global Trade Management, components of Oracle Cloud SCM, customers can optimise their logistics processes by increasing visibility, reducing costs, automating regulatory compliance and improving decision-making. Apollo Tyres is one of the first users.
Organisations face major challenges relating to the supply chain: from component shortages and disrupted transport routes to changes in global trade agreements and rapidly shifting customer demand. To be able to adapt their global supply chains quickly to the changing trade environment, logistics professionals need flexible and efficient processes that enable them to navigate regulations easily, reduce the risk of bottlenecks and minimise the impact of ongoing transport disruptions.
"Over the last few years, the resilience of global logistics processes has been clearly challenged. In the process, many organisations struggled to adapt and protect their business operations from constant disruptions," said Srini Rajagopal, vice president of logistics product strategy at Oracle. "With Oracle Cloud SCM, organisations can seamlessly manage their global trade, transportation and distribution processes. It helps them improve the speed and accuracy of their operations, optimise service levels, ensure compliance and reduce the impact of disruptions in the supply chain."
New features
The new features in Oracle Transportation Management and Oracle Global Trade Management include:
- Enhanced business intelligence features: this allows customers to combine transportation and trade data with other operational data in Oracle Fusion Data Intelligence. The enhanced data provides a holistic, real-time view of the business enabling organisations to improve their decision-making and global logistics performance.
- Enhanced logistics network modelling: it allows logistics managers to model different scenarios and compare different planning options for drivers. The enhanced logistics network modelling features allow organisations to quickly evaluate schedules, improve allocation decisions and optimise fleet performance.
- New trade promotion programme: allows customers to simultaneously automate support for multiple country-specific trade programmes. By automating trade documentation, organisations can reduce manual processes, improve the precision and efficiency of participation in trade programmes, and reduce customs and tax costs.
- Updated mobile app for Oracle Transportation Management: with support for third-party transport service providers and fleet drivers, app users can bid on the transport market, capture transport costs and view maps. The app's added functionality and expanded configuration options provide a more intuitive and personalised experience for users, helping to improve the efficiency of logistics processes.
- Enhanced workbenches: helps logistics managers quickly and easily create highly configurable workbenches that provide one overall view of operations. With new workbench personalisation and data visualisation features, organisations can increase productivity and improve business decisions.
