US-based Michael Lewis Company (MLCo) is building a 'state-of-the-art distribution centre' in Dinteloord. The distributor of aircraft meals and aviation supplies is aiming to grow its European business with the new logistics site.
MLCo has chosen business park Nieuw-Prinsenland in the municipality of Steenbergen, located on the A4 and between the ports of Rotterdam and Antwerp. There, it is building a 14,000-square-metre distribution centre. The building offers 165,000 cubic metres of storage volume and consists of various conditioned areas, such as freezer cells, cold stores and storage for unconditioned goods.
Expansion
"The distribution centre is built for the future. Once business activities develop further, we will be prepared to expand the building by 40 per cent," said Rien den Hartog, managing director of Michael Lewis Company Europe. MLCo will start there in early 2020 with around 30 employees, growing to 100 jobs over the next three years.
35 million euro
The supply chain specialist for airlines is investing 35 million euros in the premises, which will serve to further expand its European business activities. MLCo currently serves 119 international airports in 23 countries in Europe.
