Maastricht is getting a 27-hectare logistics centre. Eighteen warehouses and distribution centres are being built next to Maastricht Aachen Airport (MAA), intended for international logistics companies.

This is a major boost for the province of Limburg, as the logistics centre will provide the region with five hundred to seven hundred jobs. The construction on the Aviation Valley business park involves an investment of 160 million euros.

Logistic hotspot of South Limburg

Aviation Valley should become the logistics hotspot of South Limburg with the arrival of the logistics centre. "Limburg already has a rock-solid position in large-scale international logistics. This initiative is a huge boost for further development at and around the airport," responded Limburg's Economy and Knowledge Infrastructure Commissioner Twan Beurskens.

Strong location with airport as distinctive element

Limburg-based real estate company Leeyen Vastgoed is responsible for the realisation of the buildings. The logistics centre will be completed within three years. "Easily accessible large-scale plots for the development of logistics warehousing are scarce. The demand for these is high at the moment. In our view, Aviation Valley is a strong location and the combination with the MAA airport is a distinctive element in this," says director Rien Leeyen of Leeyen Vastgoed BV about the investment.
