Retail chain Hema is to optimise its supply chain, including through the use of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML). The revamped process should lead to an improved customer experience and higher profits.
"We are tremendously driven to grow from a retailer to a global brand," says Carsten Klomp, CIO Hema about the transformation. "A modern IT landscape will enable this growth, in which flexibility, cost awareness and time to market are important."
JDA
To transform its supply chain, HEMA is using JDA's fulfilment solution. The retail chain has been working with this software supplier for years in other areas, but not yet for its supply chain. The retailer will deploy JDA Luminate Demand Edge and JDA Fulfillment to optimise its supply chain.
JDA Luminate Demand Edge is a cognitive SaaS solution that uses machine-learning algorithms to make accurate demand forecasts. JDA Fulfillment helps Hema optimise margins by having the right stock in the right distribution centres and shops at the right time. By using real-life demand signals, optimal stock and distribution plans can be created. Since late last year, by acquiring Blue Yonder, JDA has integrated artificial intelligence and machine learning into its fulfilment solutions.
Data-driven supply chain
Klomp: "This will enable us to make the company even more data-driven. We see great opportunities with the use of machine learning to improve overall quality and support our colleagues and shops to do their work as well as possible. Together we will shape HEMA's digital future, with JDA as a key enabler."
