Dillewijn Zwapak has moved into a new distribution centre in Amstelveen. The wholesaler in packaging solutions was looking for greater storage capacity and therefore decided to consolidate four warehouse locations into one automated distribution centre.

Dillewijn Zwapak provides packaging solutions for the entire supply chain of flowers and plants. From now on, all order flows will be processed in one central warehouse with a height of eighteen metres.

Digitalisation and automation

To prevent the structural shortage of logistics staff from hampering Dillewijn Zwapak's growth, all logistics processes have been digitised and automated as much as possible by partner Dematic. Three logistics concepts have been integrated at the site; fully automated pallet inbound and outbound, semi-automated colli picking and semi-automated product picking.

The distribution centre has warehouse racking for almost 12,500 pallet positions, nine AGVs, a conveyor to feed and check pallets, an automated paternoster order picking system and an EWMS. "By digitising all information and logistics operations, our processes and supply chain have become more transparent and efficient. Furthermore, for future business growth, we anticipate the increasing shortage of logistics personnel in this region," said Mark de Krosse, Managing Director at Van Dillewijn Group.
