Last year, Dutch consumers spent 1 billion euros at foreign webshops within the European Union. That is an increase of no less than 25 per cent compared to 2015.

This is according to figures from the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS). Especially clothes and shoes were bought from foreign webshops. Consumers preferred webshops from Germany (50 per cent), Britain (12 per cent), Belgium or Italy (both 8 per cent). Over 80 per cent of crossborder purchases took place at companies in these countries.
